Passover begins at sundown on Friday, April 22nd, and there are countless ways to participate in the holiday even if you do not have family nearby or are homebound.
Below are several resources you can use to find a Seder meal in your community, no matter what challenges you face.
The UJA Federation is a fantastic resource for older adults looking to find a Seder in their area. Their website includes a directory of Seder meals taking place throughout the five boroughs, as well as in Nassau and Suffolk County. This directory includes important details like handicap accessibility, denominations served and contact information to place a reservation.
It is important to remember that many events have RSVP deadlines set for early this week – be sure to check the list and RSVP as soon as possible.
Jewish Community Center of Manhattan
The JCC of Manhattan is holding an all-age, traditional Seder at its Upper West Side location. Tickets are still available and special arrangements can be made for attendees with limited mobility.
Chabad International Seder Finder
Chabad.org offers an interactive map that can provide users with a variety of Passover events, with more than 97 Synagogues and other community organizations still taking reservations for Friday.
JASA (Jewish Association Serving the Aging) is affiliated with more than 20 senior centers in New York City and Long Island that cater to the Jewish community. Additionally, home-bound seniors can receive meals delivered to their door by calling their helpline at 212-273-5272 or emailing JASA at Help@jasa.org.
