Mount Sinai to Host Free Community Heart Health Fairs in February
Posted in American Heart Month, Health
Representatives from the Mount Sinai Health System recently contacted SelectCare with a month’s worth of free health screenings, expert lectures and healthy cooking demonstrations throughout New York City.
February is American Heart Month, which highlights healthy habits everyone can adopt in order to promote cardiovascular health. Cardiovascular disease remains the #1 cause of death amongst Americans.
“Mount Sinai’s Heart Month and daily goal is to seize every opportunity to educate our communities and employees about how to keep their hearts healthy,” said Mount Sinai Cardiac Services VP Beth Oliver in a press release. “Our events and activities are designed to help lower their disease risk and improve heart health through increased personal health knowledge, healthier diets, and at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day.”
Mount Sinai’s programs are free to the public, but some require attendees RSVP in advance, so be sure to check each listing if you plan to attend an event.
One event in particular would pair well with our blog’s last post: “Eat Heartily with Chef Rocco Sacramone,” which features a cooking demonstration and tasting led by Rocco Sacramone, owner/chef of Trattoria L’Incontro, one of eight restaurants to earn a spot on Zagat’s “Best Italian Restaurant” list.
